Lemon Eucalyptus Mint Whipped Body Butter
- 75 g Shea Butter
- 75 g Cocoa Butter
- 130 g Coconut Oil (organic virgin)
- 25 g Carrier Oil (I used almond)
- 1/2 tsp - 1 tsp Vegetable Glycerin (optional)
- 8-10 drops each Young Living essential oil (or preference)
I melt my butters in a quart sized canning jar. I place a washcloth in a pan of water and set the jar on top. A double boiler works, also. Once melted, I place it in the freezer to harden up a bit. Not too hard, though, because you need to whip it with a handheld mixer.
You can add essential oils after you've removed your melted butters from the heat source, or right before you whip like I do. This is mostly a personal preference. The cocoa butter has a very strong scent so experiment with how much oil you wish to add. I think an orange chocolate scent would be great and easily achievable with just the orange essential oil.
I whipped the Butter for awhile and then added vegetable glycerin. This is optional, but I think it adds moisture and smoothness. I continued to whip until I was happy with the consistency! Could not be easier!
A few notes: The butters will start to melt at body temp as you apply. The consistency will feel much different than store bought body butters, but absorbs and protects so well! No nasty chemicals you can't pronounce! I'm experimenting with many different recipes and this is just one way of making this! If you research, there are many recipes with different results! Experiment until you find what you like.
